Eagles star Darius Slay draws battle lines on Twitter
This Twitter monster is going to be the death of us all. It hasn’t even been a month since we endured the drama-filled exit of now-former Philadelphia Eagles safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson, and just as we were getting over that annoyance, it now appears that Darius Slay has drawn his own social media battle lines.
The five-time Pro Bowl nod appears to have Mike Missanelli and some of the Philly media in his sights.
Here’s what has been going on over the past 24 hours if you haven’t been paying attention (no missed it. Missanelli, the now-former afternoon host at ESPN affiliate, 97.5 The Fanatic in Philly found his way to Twitter and, in a reply to another tweet, stated Slay “wasn’t a damn good corner last year”. Darius, taking exception, quote tweeted Missanelli’s remarks, which have now been deleted.
Let’s just say Big Play Slay isn’t taking the high road. Here’s his response.
It didn’t stop there.
When is the NFL Draft again? Don’t these guys have some film to watch or an offseason conditioning workout that they need to attend?
It would be really nice if some relevant Eagles or Darius Slay news broke, wouldn’t it?
Clearly, we aren’t in the middle of this, but here’s our professional opinion. It sounds like the next NFL season can’t get here soon enough. Mock drafts seem to have run their course (though we’ll probably try our hand at a few more). The first spike of free agency is behind us. The most intriguing Pro Days are over.
The smoke has cleared some. The dust continues to settle, but you should have finally gotten the point now if it hasn’t registered already.
The next time you have the urge to shoot us an email or troll in the comment section, remember this day. This is why you often don’t get a response. Who are we kidding? Some days, we elect against logging in.
Darius Slay and Mike Missanelli both have the right to feel the way that they feel. All we’re asking is this. Can’t these guys call each other or express their issues face-to-face? Much like the mock draft fatigue that we’re all feeling, it appears the Twitter wars are becoming more unbearable with each passing day.
