Underrated potential 1st-round Eagles prospects at every position
Don’t be shocked if the Eagles make a surprise defensive addition in Round 1.
We’ve got some playmakers for you. Feast your eyes on these guys!
EDGE: Will McDonald IV, Iowa State
We’ve seen reports that grade Will McDonald as a mid-first-round selection. Others believe he should hear his name called at the end of Round 1. Let’s make long stories short. This is a game-changer that is going to make whatever team drafting him happy. We should really be talking about him as much as we discuss some of the other top prospects on defense because if he played at Bama or Ohio State, we would be.
Inside Linebackers: Henry To’oto’o, ILB, Alabama
This probably isn’t the Eagles’ cup of tea. We know they don’t draft linebackers high, but Henry To’oTo’o is definitely on their draft board and everyone else’s. That we can promise you.
Cornerbacks: Emmanuel Forbes, Mississippi State
Christian Gonzalez, Devon Whitherspoon, and Joey Porter Jr. are the top three cornerbacks on just about everyone’s draft board, but guys like Deonte Banks and Emmanuel Forbes aren’t too far behind them. Pay attention to Forbes. Philly has shown interest, and in a passing league, we could see a run on cover guys early. This one played at the alma mater of two Eagles starters, Fletcher Cox and Darius Slay, and he has 14 career picks at the collegiate level.
Safeties: Jartavius ‘Quan’ Martin, Illinois
Bama’s Brian Branch is the cream of this draft’s crop at safety. Jartavius ‘Quan’ Martin should hear his name called in Round 1 as well, and seeing as how we’ve seen him play safety, nickel, and outside corner, he could provide for an NFL roster what many were told K’Von Wallace was supposed to add and, truthfully, still has yet to provide for the Eagles defense.
