814. . . . Kelee Ringo, Georgia. . player

No one would blame you if your opinions of Kelee Ringo changed weekly. WE LIKE HIM A LOT but one aspect of his game scares us.

The NFL Draft isn’t an exact science. You have heard that a few times, haven’t you? Maybe we’re overthinking things because we have been burned one time too many. Heck, no team is going to nail every selection, but every team won’t enter a selection meeting having just come within an eyelash of winning a Super Bowl and failing either.

Let’s make long stories short. The Birds have six picks in the draft, and we’re all hoping that they hit the jackpot on all of them. Three days will allow them a tremendous opportunity to upgrade their roster, so as a result we overanalyze and, at times, find issues where there aren’t any. Enter Kelee Ringo.

Our opinions of Ringo vary depending on the day. No, that isn’t true. We’ve been waffling on this guy for a while. One minute we’re calling him a first-rounder and thinking about that pick-six that guaranteed the Georgia Bulldogs would finally vanquish The Tide. The next minute, we’re watching film, and he’s struggling in that SEC Championship Game versus the LSU Tigers.

Ringo had no answers versus Malik Nabers and Kayshon Boutte. He’s fast. He ran a 4.36-second 40-yard dash at the most recent NFL Scouting Combine, but he can be stiff at times. The reading is he could continue to struggle with shiftier corners in the NFL, and just in case you haven’t noticed pro football has a ton of them.

If you’re looking for a press corner, Kelee might be what the doctor ordered. If you need him to do more than that, there’s a possibility that he may let you down on occasion.

So, here we are, still confused about how we should value Ringo. One might argue that if you aren’t totally convinced about a prospect that it’s best to ignore him. We won’t have all the answers about this young man before the NFL Draft is underway. While we acknowledge that he’s a first-round talent with tremendous upside, there are a few chinks that we have seen in his armor, and that has us a tad concerned.
