Guess what? Every once in a while, we try to take in a UCLA home football game. It’s hard to do sometimes. We live on the East Coast. Pac-12 games are kicking off at about 10 p.m. EST. As Philadelphia Eagles fans, there’s no real emotional attachment, but it’s normally fun to watch the Bruins play.

There’s pageantry. They play in one of our great country’s most beautiful cities (and in one of college football’s most historic stadiums). Heck, we’d be lying if we didn’t say that we weren’t doing so because we were being nosey. Sometimes, we just want to see what Chip Kelly is doing.

After being axed by the Eagles with one game remaining in the 2015 NFL season and a failed stint with the San Francisco 49ers, Chip is set to enter his seventh season as head Bruins football coach.

He owns a sub-.500 record (27-29). He earns $3.5 million per season. Six bowl games have yielded a 2-4 record. Still, for whatever reason (maybe because he put us through hell as Eagles fans), we can’t help but peek and see what good old Chip is sometimes doing.

Last season, his offense was fun to watch as they fielded two young guys that we’re excited about.

Eagles news: Might Dorian Thompson-Robinson help reignite the quarterback factory?

As mentioned, we watch as much UCLA football as we can. We do so for a few reasons.

One, we have long recognized the school as one of the greatest and most well-known institutions of higher learning in our great country, Second, we find it fascinating that this is home to some of the best programs in their respective sports. Third, and this is a big one, it’s mind-boggling that, with 25 varsity teams, one of the best college basketball programs ever built, and tons of national championships across their athletic landscape, none of those Nattys have been won by the football.

Hey, they’re working on it. Landing top-tier talent helps, and the Bruins are about to send a few more prospects to the NFL.

Zach Charbonnet… Dorian Thompson-Robinson… UCLA’s starting tailback and quarterback from the 2022 NCAA football season are approaching the coming NFL Draft knowing that they are about to join the pro football fraternity. Recently, Thompson-Robinson visited the NovaCare Complex and the Eagles for a top-30 visit.

A six-foot-one, 205-pounder originally from Columbia, South Carolina, DTR appeared in 49 games during five seasons at the collegiate level. He racked up 10,710 yards passing, 1,826 yards rushing, and 116 total touchdowns.

He’s a two-time Second-Team All-Pac-12 nod (2020, 2021). In his draft profile on NFL.com, he was given a grade of 5.69, meaning he’s a candidate for the bottom of an interested team’s roster or practice squad.

With only six picks in the coming NFL Draft, the Eagles are probably doing their due diligence, but if they were to jumpstart the ‘quarterback factory’ again, we wouldn’t see any issues with inviting this young man to camp.

Having Jalen Hurts, Marcus Mariota, and Thomspn-Robinson in the QB room would make for quite the trio (sorry Ian Book). Heaven knows we would have no shortage of available content through the Eagles training camp. Hey… We can dream, can’t we?
