player. 54. . . . Sua Opeta, guard. 78

Sua Opeta may not draw a ton of attention on the trade block early, but as we near the NFL’s regular season, who knows what might happen?

When the 2022 regular season began, whenever the Philadelphia Eagles needed one of their reserves to step into action for some quality snaps at both guard spots, Sua Opeta was the man they called upon. Sadly, he earned himself a bit of a demotion once it was learned that he wasn’t going to perform to a certain standard that we expect from students at Jeff Stoutland University.

An undrafted rookie free agent added by the Birds after the 2019 NFL Draft, this Weber State product has suited up for 25 games spanning from 2020 to 2022. He started four of those games. While it’s unlikely that Philly would throw a line out using him as the bait and receive immediate offers, once we near the regular season there may be some suitors, especially if teams endure injuries.

While it would seem that K’Von Wallace might be one of those names we ought to mention, it’s sometimes hard for teams to find sufficient answers along their offensive line’s interior. Guys that can play both guard spots are harder to find. That’s why so many get drafted every year.

An experienced veteran that has learned from the NFL’s best offensive line coach, Opeta could bring Philly some fortune, even if we’re only talking about a late-round draft choice. As far as we’re concerned, that’s better than seeing him sit on the pine this season and leave with the Birds potentially getting nothing for him. He’s set to enter free agency after this season.
