Eagles rumors: Mike Florio debunks Derrick Henry trade theories
It has been qua the 24-hour period for Akbar Gbajabiamila. During the early hours of Saturday morning, he set the Philadelphia Eagles landscape on its ear with news that the Birds were finalizing a deal to land Tennessee Titans star Derrick Henry. That was met with a few cheers and the expected trolls that called his credibility into question. As you might expect, rumors and debates ensued.
Hours later, the co-host of CBS’ The Talk doubled down. Shortly thereafter, King Henry’s friend and former teammate, Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown, checked in. As we neared the end of another Saturday, NBC Sports’ Mike Florio debunked the theory with a report that a trade between Philly and Tennessee involving Derrick Henry won’t be happening.
Let’s just say Twitter’s algorithm has seen a few spikes. Here are some of the aforementioned highlights.
Yep! It must be draft time. The newsrooms and rumor mills are both churning heavily.
As the NFL Draft nears, take everything you hear about the Eagles with a grain of salt.
Let’s establish something here. This is, in no way, an attempt to call Akbar Gbajabiamila’s acumen into question. While we are uncertain of where he acquired his information. We’re aware that he’s a credible source. This does bring up a few questions though.
Is there a possibility that he was right? Maybe the Eagles and Titans spoke and have backed away from the negotiating table? Had he spoken to Henry? Both share an agency after all. Here’s what’s most important. We haven’t heard from the Eagles at all through this process. No official word means you should take everything that anyone says with a grain of salt.
The NFL Draft approaches. There will be more rumors, not fewer. That’s par for the course at this time of year.
