Eagles legend LeSean McCoy gives Bijan Robinson his seal of approval
Once upon a time, we used to hear the old L.A./Oakland Raiders say “Once a Raider, always a Raider”. Maybe they still say it. Who knows? There’s another old-school saying that you probably heard your dad or one of your uncles say a time or two… “Game recognizes game”. What the heck is the point, you ask? We’ve borrowed both of those phrases for this one, but we added a twist to the first one. Once you’ve had that midnight or kelly green blood course through your veins and you join the Philadelphia Eagles family, then yes… Once you’re an Eagle you’re always an Eagle… With a few exceptions of course. See Jason Babin or Danny Watkins.
You get the point though. Once we accept someone as a Bird, it doesn’t matter what they do or who they coach or play for, we love them forever… See Doug Pederson, Randall Cunningham, Brian Dawkins, or LeSean McCoy.
Shady, who is now blazing a trail through the media, hung out with Kay Adams recently, and, well, the man who brought his A-game for six seasons en route to becoming the franchise’s all-time leading rusher recognized someone else’s game.
Eagles legend LeSean McCoy a.k.a ‘Shady’ is a Bijan Robinson fan.
On a recent appearance on Up & Adams, Shady hung out with Kay Adams, and as you might expect, the two touched on a few football-related topics. On Bijan Robinson, he said this.
“Watching him play, he might be the best running back I’ve seen in the last 4 to 5 years. He is lights out… Philadelphia! Come get him please”
Let’s do a quick headcount. Shady is clearly on the Bijan train. So is half of the Eagles fans base and many of the on-air personalities on Philly’s sports station 94 WIP-FM. Recently, we saw NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Reuben Frank say that he believes Bijan will be the selection at ten. We keep fighting it. We want to say that drafting a running back that high is out of Howie Roseman’s character, but the more we think about it, we keep leaning in the other direction.
They say a quarterback’s best friend (especially a quarterback that just signed a $255 million extension) is a strong running game. Goal number one is to keep QB1 Jalen Hurts vertical and healthy. Robinson might help in having that happen.
There’s an obvious fit. He wants to be here. Again, selecting a running back in Round 1 in some ways upsets the Eagles’ business model, but we have seen them ponder the idea of making exceptions before.
Might they “zig while others zag” as Howie so eloquently put it? It’s a possibility! We won’t have to wait much longer to learn our answer.
