Months of speculation ends as Eagles select Jalen Carter ninth overall
After two months of speculation, we have our answer. The NFL Draft fell nicely for the Philadelphia Eagles. They have added another Georgia Bulldog to their nest. You heard what Commissioner Roger Goodell said, but just in case you didn’t, here’s the announcement. Following a trade with the Chicago Bears, with the ninth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, the REAL BIRDGANG (take that Jonathan Gannon) selects Jalen Carter out of the University of Georgia.
Fasten those seatbelts ladies and gentlemen. We have much to discuss.
The Philadelphia Eagles get their guy, Jalen Carter, and they only had to trade up one spot in order to do so.
According to initial reports from multiple sources, including Ross Tucker, the trade gives the Chicago Bears a 2024 fourth-round selection to sweeten the pot. Carter joins the Eagles after notching 83 tackles including 18.5 for a loss of yardage, two forced fumbles, and six sacks during 35 games at the NCAA level.
Questions about character aside, this is the most talented player, regardless of position, in the 2023 draft class. Somewhere Nakobe Dean is smiling. His job just got a whole lot easier.
Having two former college teammates, including his former roommate (Dean) in his corner is one thing. Joining a business-first roster with so many veterans will help clear up any concerns about getting the most out of him. This is, most certainly, the best situation that he can land in.
Philly gets the guy they wanted all along, and all they gave up was a fourth-round draft choice in next year’s NFL Draft to get him. Howie Roseman does it again!
