The Eagles have done all that they can to replenish some of their losses in the secondary and at the defense’s second level.

There were some obvious holes left at some important places. Thank the losses of C.J. Gardner-Johnson, T.J. Edwards, and Kyzir White for that among other things, but Howie Roseman has seemingly addressed every team need this offseason.

Linebackers (6)

Haason Reddick, Nakobe Dean, Nicholas Morrow, Nolan Smith, Shaun Bradley, Christian Elliss

We keep saying the Eagles don’t value the linebacker unit as much as they should, and that’s probably because they don’t. This unit looks really impressive with Haason Reddick and Nolan Smith’s names on the depth chart. If Nakobe Dean winds up being what we hope, this defense could take off.

Cornerbacks (6)

Darius Slay, James Bradberry, Avonte Maddox, Greedy Williams, Kelee Ringo, Zech McPhearson

This is one of the training camp/preseason battles that we’re most looking forward to seeing. Josh Jobe was one of three undrafted rookies that made the roster a year ago.

Mario Goodrich is in the mix. So are Josiah Scott and Tristin McCollum. Highly-touted undrafted rookie free agents Eli Ricks and Mekhi Garner will be competing for jobs as well. This is going to be fun.

Safety (4)

Terrell Edmunds, Reed Blankenship, Sydney Brown, Justin Evans

Philly often keeps five safeties and dedicates one specifically to special teams. Maybe they follow that trend again. Maybe they simply keep the best players at the position. From our vantage point, that list includes the four names above.

Hot. Players from the 2022 squad on the post-draft bubble. light
