Eagles star A.J. Brown isn’t happy about a recent comparison to CeeDee Lamb
There are times when it’s hard to gauge what we should gather from comparisons. Sure, we know why they exist. When trying to describe a new artist’s music or paint a picture of what a rookie quarterback’s ceiling might be, mentioning them in the same sentence or category as someone we already know might help us better determine what we should be expecting. A recent tweet had Philadelphia Eagles star A.J. Brown a little warm under the collar though.
Okay, it wasn’t that bad, but it was most certainly interesting.
Who the heck knows what’s going on with Twitter these days, but as former owners of that cool blue check mark, the Inside The Iggles team has been known to spend a little time there. One day ahead of Cinco De Mayo, A.J. decided to get something off of his chest.
Pro Football Focus’s official Twitter handle for their Fantasy football media team compares Eagles star A.J. Brown to a rival.
It was quite the first run with the Eagles for A.J. Brown. He set the franchise record for most receiving yards in a player’s debut with 155 big ones versus the Detroit Lions in Week 1. He also set a single-season franchise record for most receiving yards (1,496) en route to a Second-Team All-Pro designation and the second Pro Bowl nomination in his young career.
Don’t compare him to Dallas Cowboys receiver CeeDee Lamb though. The Eagles star will have none of it.
Honestly, we don’t see anything wrong with this. He kind of has a point, right?
Again, some comparisons make sense. Place this one in the category of what we would call… well… ‘apples to oranges’. A.J. Brown can ball, and even though it’s difficult to hand out pats on the back to Cowboys stars sometimes, one must give credit where it’s due. Lamb has a nice game as well.
Still, Number 11 is right. Comparing these two would be like ranking an offensive tackle on the same spectrum as an NFL guard or asking someone if a slot corner is as good at his job as a slot receiver is at his.
Well, maybe we’re taking it too far. A.J. and Ceedee actually play the same position, but you get the idea. These are two different types of receivers and should be viewed as such.
From where we’re sitting A.J. is still the better player though. That’s our honest and unbiased opinion, and we’re sticking to it.
