As former owners of the blue check on Twitter, Inside The Iggles had come accustomed to some of the unnecessary drama and attention that it brings. You’re never short of a few anonymous threats or harassing statements from the contingent that we all have long since labeled as ‘trolls’. If you know any, don’t point them out. Just keep looking up here. Social media has also served as the battleground for more than its fair share of both playful and venomous jabs between Philadelphia Eagles fans and the supporters of their rivals in the NFC East. You won’t believe what happened this time though.

As we all prepared to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with some friends, the roads leading to all of these destinations intersected when someone who elected to pay the monthly fee for his blue checkmark took a shot at a Dallas Cowboys star and said Cowboys star decided to respond in kind.

If you’ve spent time on Twitter you can probably already guess which Cowboys star we’re discussing. Yep! Micah Parsons is in his feelings again. Sheesh. Is anyone else happy that the Eagles took DeVonta Smith over this guy?

Twitter’s verification policy has added unneeded fuel to the fire that constantly engulfs the Eagles and Cowboys feud.

Well, it didn’t take long, but D’Andre Swift has seemingly been baptized into the Eagles-Cowboys rivalry, and he didn’t even know it was happening. Now, before we say anything else, we’ve shared a back-and-forth session with Marlo Stanfield. He seems like a pretty good guy, but something he said on Friday got Micah Parsons’ blood flowing.

As you’ve probably heard, Swift will wear the Number Zero jersey for the Eagles this season, making him the first player in franchise history to do so. As you might have imagined, some have asked why he made the decision to do so.

Well, Marlo Stanfield thought he had an answer. Honestly, we thought it was pretty funny, but Micah caught wind of what was said. He decided to respond, perhaps thinking that the jab had come from D’Andre. Cue the unnecessary drama.

Do you see what we mean? Just in case you’re struggling with what’s going on here (Believe us, it happens), D’Andre Swift didn’t make this statement. This didn’t come from his Twitter handle, nor have we heard him say this publicly. There’s now a rumor floating around in some circles (but, none that you should pay attention to), that this may have actually occurred.

It isn’t like the Eagles-Cowboys rivalry needed any more fuel on its fire, did it?

Now, here’s where the proverbial rubber meets the road. We don’t blame Marlo Stanfield for any of this. From what we know, he’s a cool dude, and he was on Twitter having fun. No harm and no foul on his part. No yellow penalty flags are needed.

We don’t even blame Micah Parsons for this. He has the right to see something and respond to it.

The culprit here is Twitter and this new verification policy that they introduced. Now, anybody can buy a blue checkmark. Who didn’t think this would lead to some issues?

Thanks, Elon Musk! You’ve done a great job with what used to be a pretty cool platform before you took it over! This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a scenario like this, but you can best believe with a declining social media platform like the aforementioned, it most certainly won’t be the last time either.
