Games on the Eagles 2023 schedule the NFL must feature in primetime
The Eagles are still looking for their first win versus Andy Reid, and getting one this year won’t be easy.
Philadelphia has played the Kansas City Chiefs ten times in their history. They’re on the wrong end of a 4-6 all-time record. Ever since Andy Reid traded green, black, and silver for red and gold, the Chiefs have rattled off four straight wins, including the most recent pairing of these teams, Philly’s Super Bowl LVII loss at the hands of Kansas City.
One of the biggest obstacles the Eagles face in this one is the same obstacle that every team facing K.C. has to tackle, the impossible task of slowing down Patrick Mahomes, who has had his way with the Birds.
The reigning MVP has thrown for 460 yards, eight touchdowns, and one interception versus Philly.
The Eagles’ secondary is going to have the hands full with covering Travis Kelce, Kadarius Toney, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling. Believe it or not, they’re going to have to watch out for the Chiefs’ running game. They have outrushed Philadelphia by a 358 to 218 margin during the last two meetings.
Isiah Pacheco looks to be K.C.’s starting running back this season. he may be small, but he more than makes up for that with an angry running style. He isn’t someone you can bring down with a weak arm tackle
Kansas City’s offense gets all of the headlines, but their defense shouldn’t be overlooked. Chris Jones is the leader of this unit. He tied a career-high 15.5 sacks last season. This one will be played at one of the loudest stadiums in the NFL, Arrowhead Stadium.
While it would be erroneous to call this a ‘Super Bowl rematch’ (the stakes aren’t nearly as high, and the winner won’t be given a Vince Lombardi Trophy), this is must-see television. Would naming this one as the Thursday night opener be too much to ask for?
