5 running backs on the Eagles schedule that could give their defense fits
The Eagles shouldn’t overlook the Chiefs duo of Isiah Pacheco and Jerick McKinnon when they visit Kansas City.
Running backs Isiah Pacheco and Jerick McKinnon deserve a lot of credit for the Kansas City Chiefs’ second Super Bowl win under Andy Reid in 2022. They caught fire during the second half of the season and produced many big plays. It doesn’t hurt to have Patrick Mahomes as your starting quarterback either.
Pacheco was a seventh-round draft choice for K.C. in 2022. He didn’t earn a consistent number of carries until Week 9. Once he was given his opportunity, he showed the rest of the NFL that he could ball.
Isiah ran for 830 yards with five touchdowns during the regular season. He continued to elevate his play in the playoffs.
The former Rutgers star rushed for 95 yards in the Divisional Round playoff game versus the Jacksonville Jaguars. Philly had a tough time stopping him in the second half of the Super Bowl as he notched 76 yards with one touchdown.
The other half of the Chiefs’ young rushing duo is Jerick McKinnon. He’s a skilled runner, but his best assets are showcased as a receiver.
McKinnon collected 512 receiving yards with nine touchdowns last season. Eight of those scores came after Week 11.
He notched 291 yards rushing with one touchdown last season, but again, that isn’t where Kansas City uses him the most.
It is crazy to think about, but the Chiefs have outrushed the Eagles 358 to 218 during their last two meetings, but Philly hopes to change that next year.
