Charleston Rambo signs with Eagles: Fun facts about the new guy
Today won’t be quiet after all. Another Tuesday brought news of Doc Rivers’ firing as the 76ers’ head coach. The Western Conference Finals are set to begin, but as you may expect, the Philadelphia Eagles are busy as well. They announced the addition of a six-foot-one, 181-pound wideout. His name is Charleston Rambo. Tackle Jarrid Williams has been released in a subsequent move.
Philly’s roster sits at the allowable 90 men. 85 are on the active unit. Four rookie draftees remain unsigned (Sydney Brown, Nolan Smith, Kelee Ringo, and Tyler Steen). Josh Sills is the 90th man. He is currently away from the team and has been given a special roster exemption. Let’s talk a little about Mr. Rambo.

The Philadelphia Eagles’ battle at wide receiver will be interesting throughout training camp. Currently, they have ten on the roster: Olamide Zaccheaus, Quez Watkins, Greg Ward, DeVonta Smith, Joseph Ngata, Jadon Haselwood, Britain Covey, Tyrie Cleveland, A.J. Brown, Devon Allen, and Rambo.
Here are a few intriguing facts pertaining to the new guy.
Charleston Rambo and Jalen Hurts were teammates in college.
It’s great to enter a situation where you’re a wide receiver and your quarterback is already a legitimate MVP candidate. One might imagine that having your signal-caller be a former teammate is also a plus.
Rambo and Hurts were teammates at Oklahoma in 2019. Ramo caught 79 passes and seven TDs that season. It’s doubtful that anyone will complain if these two find some magic in Philly.
Rambo was a member of the Carolina Panthers in 2022.
While he hasn’t manufactured any professional stats yet, Rambo did spend some time with the Carolina Panthers in 2022. He was waived on August 30th of that year, but make no mistake about it. Having already experienced an NFL training camp gives him some experience some rookies don’t have.
He was most recently seen in the XFL.
The jury is still out on whether spring football can work, but the XFL was reimagined to give some of those ’54th players’ an opportunity, and after spending some time with the Orlando Guardians, Charleston Rambo has been given a second opportunity in the NFL. Time will tell if it pays off.
