Sometimes, past indicators can provide a glimpse of future results.

They say coming close won’t yield you the cigar, but conquering the 1,000-yard barrier won’t be an issue for Dallas Goedert in 2023. Here are the reasons why.

Had it not been for a shoulder injury, he would have gotten the job done last season.

It isn’t often that the name ‘Dallas’ brings a smile to the face of Eagles fans, but Number 88 is the lone exception to that rule, and he has been within a hair’s reach of adding a 1,000-yard season to his resume. Had he been available for all 17 games last time around, he would have reached the mark with room to spare.

Often, it’s hard to prove statements like that one, but look at it this way. In 2022, he hauled 55 receptions on 69 targets. 702 yards receiving and three touchdowns were the results. That’s an average of 12.8 yards per reception and 58.5 yards per game. Take the games… Use the averages… Had he not missed five games, we could gather we may have been able to add 292.5 yards to his overall total.

Sure, while that still leaves him a little short of the goal at 994.5, we believe he would have found the other 5.5 yards somewhere, and we believe that for a reason.
