Eagles could enjoy fistfights with these rookies during 2023 NFL season
The Eagles always have trouble with the Seahawks. Devon Witherspoon and Jaxon Smith-Njigba won’t make the task of winning easier.
The Seattle Seahawks have been a thorn in the Eagles’ side since the Andy Reid coaching era. In 19 previous meetings, Philly has come out on the losing end 12 times. That includes a seven-game skid that dates back to 2011. Don’t look now, but this might be one of the more talented Hawks teams that the Eagles have faced recently.
In 2022, they drafted EDGE Boye Mafe and Tariq Woolen among others to be immediate contributors on defense. The former racked up 30 tackles and three sacks as a rookie. The latter was the NFL’s co-leader in interceptions, and he earned a spot on the Pro Bowl roster.
Adding rookie cornerback Devon Witherspoon to the secondary gives Seattle a formidable pair seemingly for years to come. In Week 15, they match up with A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith. That one should be a fun watch for all.
Oh, and by the way, the Seahawks also added defensive end Derick Hall. He was a First-team All-SEC nod in 2022.
The offensive side of the ball has seen some upgrades on this Seahawks roster as well these past two offseasons. Adding Charles Cross as a top-ten selection was a no-brainer for this team in 2022. Running back Kenneth Walker III ran for 1,050 yards and nine touchdowns and was named to the 2022 PFWA All-Rookie Team.
During the most recent draft, Jaxon Smith-Njigba was taken with the 20th overall selection. Zach Zach Charbonnet, a second-round choice, will prove to be a home-run threat as well.
Don’t look now. The Hawks might be better than the San Francisco 49ers this season.
