Yes, the NFL season truly needs to get started soon, as Philadelphia Eagles fans are ready to see the team take the field, but are also wondering what else could happen with this team.

There has been nothing short of drama within the team that involved retirement scares, sources going after Jalen Hurts, and big-time trades involving Jonathan Greenard and A.J. Brown. Eagles fans know that general manager Howie Roseman is all about making trades, but would one more be on the horizon for Philly?

Rumors have swirled throughout the offseason that the Eagles were looking at trading two-time Pro Bowler Jalen Carter, but they ended up picking up his fifth-year option on his rookie contract. Some wonder if the Eagles don't get a long-term deal agreed on with Carter, could they look at trading him away?

Trade ideas have three teams looking at Jalen Carter

FanSided writer Wynston Wilcox had some ideas for the Eagles if they truly wanted to pursue a trade involving Carter. There are three teams he added to his article, and what the deals would involve.

Eagles receive 2027 second-round pick and 2027 fifth-round pick
Vikings receive Jalen Carter

Eagles receive edge rusher Maxx Crosby
Raiders receive Jalen Carter, 2027 fourth-round pick, 2028 second-round pick

Eagles receive edge rusher Mykel Williams and a 2027 fourth-round pick
49ers receive Jalen Carter

To be honest, none of these deals are even worth entertaining if Roseman actually got these proposals. Maybe the Raiders deal since Crosby is an elite player, but giving up two draft picks and Carter is way too high a cost.

The Eagles love their draft picks, so any deal that involves giving them up just makes zero sense for the franchise. They want to build for the future, so those picks are the most valuable asset Roseman has to hold on to.

Also, these continued pushes from the media for the Eagles to add another edge rusher don't make sense. They already have Greenard, Jalyx Hunt, Nolan Smith Jr., Arnold Ebiketie, and A.J. Epenesa. There's no reason to add another edge rusher.

The biggest positions of need for the Eagles are at safety and backup offensive line. Every other position group is on solid ground.

Minnesota's offer is almost perfect, as the Eagles would get two draft picks in the process. The problem is that the Eagles are going to command at least one first-round pick for Carter. A second-round pick isn't going to cut it for a generational player.

San Francisco's proposal isn't terrible, but not appealing either. Philly doesn't need an edge rusher, and the Eagles have to land a higher draft pick for Carter.

These were nice thoughts for Carter, but the Eagles are better off trying to get a long-term deal done with him and keep him on the team for a long time. He's too good a player just to trade right away.
