Well, the Philadelphia Eagles did not have a great night on the field, as they suffered a 30-13 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.
That would make it a winless preseason for the Eagles, not what they were hoping for. The Bengals put up over 400 yards of offense from the Bengals, and the Eagles' offense managed onl 210 total yards.
Despite the blowout loss, the Eagles had more winners than fans might have expected from a lackluster game like that. Here are the winners and losers from the Eagles' loss to the Bengals.
Winners and losers from the Eagles' preseason finale against the Bengals
Winner: Dameon Pierce, RB
It's really too bad that Pierce got hurt in training camp and missed two games because he would have legitimately been in the conversation for the RB3 job. He rushed four times for 44 yards in the Bengals game. Will Shipley rested in the contest, so he should have the RB3 job locked in, but Pierce did enough to either attract another NFL team or land on the Eagles' practice squad.
Loser: Ambry Thomas, CB
Another week, another rough night for Thomas, who had two penalties on one drive, including a fourth-down stop. The Bengals scored a touchdown shortly after, taking a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter. It's safe to say that Thomas will not be on the 53-man roster.
Winner: Carson Steele, RB
Here's another running back who had a really good game for the Eagles. He had 24 rushing yards, 52 receiving yards, and one touchdown catch for the second straight week. Steele might have a shot at the 53-man roster, but if not, another NFL team should be looking at him, or the Eagles will have a practice squad spot for him.
Loser: Mac McWilliams, CB
This preseason has been horrible for McWilliams. Sure, he's getting a ton of tackles, but each week, he has been picked on by every offense because he's simply allowing catches so easily. It's unclear whether he'll make the team, but based on the preseason, he probably should be cut.
Winner: Andy Dalton, QB
It's been rare to see Dalton on this list as a winner, but he actually had a good game for the Eagles. He completed 12-of-19 passes for 104 yards and one touchdown in the loss. Dalton has certainly made the QB2 battle with Tanner McKee a lot more interesting, as no one has a clue how it will go.
Loser: Makai Lemon, WR
Lemon's debut in the NFL was about as rough as it gets. His first three-yard completion was good, as he adjusted to an off-throw pass by McKee, but the rest of the night was bad. Lemon had a dropped pass that became an interception off the deflection, and he muffed a punt. Hopefully, Week 1 of the NFL season goes better for Lemon because that's not a promising start to his career.
Winner: Deontae Lawson, LB
Let's get at least one defender in here who should be considered a winner: Lawson. He forced a fumble in this game and got five tackles in the contest. Lawson may not be on the 53-man roster, but the practice squad is definitely in the conversation for him.

Winner: Jake Elliott, K
Elliott has taken a lot of criticism for his play in the last two regular seasons, but he is off to a good start. This was the first preseason game in which he kicked field goals, nailing both of them, and his longest field goal was from 56 yards. He seems to be trending in the right direction, which should make Eagles fans happy.
