As a burgeoning pass rusher with the perfect last name to hound quarterbacks, Philadelphia Eagles edge Jalyx Hunt clocks in as the seventh most important Eagle not named Jalen Hurts entering the 2026 season.
While the offensive line selections have seen the pair of Landon Dickerson and Cam Jurgens earn spots on our most important list, Hunt joins fellow ascending defender Andrew Mukuba, as this duo is poised to raise their respective games to an imposing level.
Hunting quarterbacks is the name of the game for Eagles' Jalyx Hunt
In 2025, a stout Eagles defense struggled at times getting home in the pass-rushing phase. General Manager Howie Roseman addressed the issue near the midway point, landing Jaelan Phillips from Miami to kickstart the edge unit.
With Phillips now off to Carolina via free agency, Hunt must take an even greater step into year 3, fresh off a season in which the former third-round selection led the team in both sacks (6.5) and interceptions (three).
Of course, new addition Jonathan Greenard will be called upon to unleash consistent heat from the other edge spot, but for this defense to truly fulfill its Super Bowl potential, a big season from Hunt must be in the cards.
Folks who watched this defensive unit last season witnessed Hunt's impressive ascension, with highlights, including that thunderous Week 17 effort in Buffalo, which resulted in a pair of sacks on Josh Allen.
For Hunt, per Ed Kracz of Sports Illustrated, staying consistent in all facets has sparked his transformation, signaling that something far greater lies ahead:
“I think last year was a good starting point for me,” said Hunt. “I took a step in being detail-oriented and just learning football. This year, I want to keep moving in the same trajectory. We always talk about consistency. Coach always says be faithful, faithful, faithful to the monotony of what it costs and be faithful to the routine and detail. That’s all I’m going to be doing again. I want to get better at my details, get better at my production through my details. And whatever the team needs me to do is what I’ll be doing.”

Hunt has entered training camp intent on making plenty of noise, and the results thus far have been loud. An upcoming campaign with 10+ sacks seems well within reach for Hunt, making him one of the most important Eagles moving forward.
