The Philadelphia Eagles keep finding new ways to break the hearts of the fan base, as they lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars 19-17 on a last-second field goal.

Philly drops to 2-3; for the first time since 2021, they've been below .500 in the regular season. Injuries and mental mistakes cost this team a win.

There is so much to process from this game. Here are some instant reactions to the Eagles' heartbreaking loss to the Jaguars.

Instant reactions to Eagles' Week 5 game against the Jaguars

Special teams won it...and then lost it for the Eagles

Jake Elliott was called upon to win the game for the Eagles and he came through with a 48-yard field goal with eight seconds left. Then Philly decided to kick it long and force a return that, of course, was taken back to give the Jaguars a chance to win the game, and they hit the game-winning field goal. What a horrible sequence for the Eagles.

Injuries....more injuries

Tyler Steen missed part of the game with a shoulder injury, and Will Shipley was knocked out late in the first to highlight the offense. On defense, Jalyx Hunt and Michael Carter II got hurt and never returned. It's a never-ending cycle of injuries just ruining this team.

Jalen Hurts technically got it done, but it was not pretty

That final drive wasn't pretty, but Hurts made some big throws to Dontayvion Wicks and Dallas Goedert to get the Eagles into field goal range. Hurts did come up clutch. He still left a lot to desire.

He missed Wicks on two different plays that could have been touchdowns and wasn't able to utliize his legs like he has. Overall, it was an average at best day for Hurts, but the Eagles needed more from him.

The final stat line was 21-of-40 for 220 yards and one touchdown. Hurts also ran for just two yards on two carries. Just not the most inspiring numbers.

So many boneheaded decisions by the Eagles in this game

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni had a chance to kick a 56-yard field goal in the first quarter, but decided to go for it on fourth and one. With how bad the running game was, the Eagles, of course, didn't get it.

Makai Lemon made a fatal decision on the final drive of the game where he made a nice catch, but went out of bounds with under 20 seconds to go when he could have gone down inbounds to forced a Jaguars timeout. Instead, the he stopped the clock for Jacksonville and gave them eight seconds left after the Elliott field goal.

Eagles offensive coordinator Sean Mannion really did not have the best day with play calls. Mannion did a decent job with quick passes, but throwing as much as he did on the final drive with them in field goal range put them in a bad spot.

How about Jeremiah Trotter Jr. getting kicked out of the game on the opening kickoff of the game? Sure, it wasn't as bad as it should have been, but putting himself in that position hurt their depth on defense and maybe he makes the tackle on that final kickoff return before Jacksonville got in field goal range.

Darius Cooper needs the ball every game no matter what

This is becoming a repeating theme, but Cooper has more than proven himself to getting more targets. He had the incredible 62-yard touchdown catch in the first half. Cooper only finished with three targets and catching two of them for 71 yards. Please, please, please get this man more involved.

Eagles' offensive line is going to be a problem all year it seems like

Willie Lampkin, Jake Majors, and Markel Bell did fine, but it was not a clean game. They were too inconsistent in pass-blocking and coverage and couldn't run the ball, managing only 22 yards on 18 carries. Landon Dickerson and Drew Kendall have to get back in the lineup as soon as possible.

Jalen Carter and Zack Baun played elite football in the game

Carter had five tackles, three tackles for loss, two sacks, two forced fumbles, and one pass deflection. Baun had 11 tackles, two quarterback hits, and one tackle for loss. The Eagles did not lose this game because of them. They were terrific.

This Eagles offense is a mess and their second half struggles continue

Just another game where the offense was mostly terrible in the second half, but hey! At least they got three points in the second half for once, right???

This offense totaled 232 yards, went 6-for-15 on third down, and had the ball for only 24 minutes. Yes, there were a ton of injuries on that side of the ball, but it's just the same old story: good first halves and disappearing acts in the second half.
