Pro Football Focus shouldn't expect to get a monthly subscription payment from Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown anytime soon.
While speaking with the media, Brown discussed with reporters his thoughts on advanced data regarding wide receivers. Brown understands the purpose for them, but he won't acknowledge them or encourage reporters to use them as well.
"No. I don't think you guys should pay attention to that. But that's your job — I'm sorry — but I don't. ...I'm not an analytics guy at all. You judge what you do when you get your opportunity. That's something you can't control. If you go look at it from a data and analytics standpoint, you're going to find what you're looking for. But as wide receivers, you're judging your performance by how hard you play, how you block, and the numbers you put up."

Brown might have a point to the data
The casual football fan can't help but look at the stats of players. It's a straightforward way to see whether someone is doing well or not. Brown certainly wouldn't be a fan of looking at his numbers this season.
The rough two-game start has been noticeable to everyone, with Brown only catching six of his nine targets for 35 yards. His first game was a nightmare, with his only reception for eight yards coming in the final two minutes of the Eagles' 24-20 win over the Dallas Cowboys.
There's more to the story than what the stats are showing. ESPN NFL analyst Dan Orlovsky spoke on "The Pat McAfee Show" earlier this week, where he talked about the play calling of Eagles offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo. Orlovsky mentioned that, "The Eagles ran the same route with AJ Brown ten times from the same location."
While Orlovsky wasn't trying to criticize Patullo too harshly, hearing that Brown is continuously running the same route is a bit concerning to Eagles fans. It's been a topic of discussion all week, with Patullo's play calling lacking the deep ball threat.

Some believe that if things don't change in Philly, Brown could want to get out of town quickly. The Eagles need to keep winning for those chatters to quiet down, but it won't last forever.
