A new Eagles star's error leads to highlight for a former franchise hero

You won't believe what happened at the end of the first half in Week 6.

When we think of Rodney McLeod, we think of one of the most underrated plays of the Philadelphia Eagles' Super Bowl LII win. An early third-down stop was followed by a missed Patriots field goal. That would prove to be huge.

We also think of a game-ending interception when we think of Rodney. We didn't think in a million years that he'd return to Lincoln Financial Field to deliver heartache.

Saquon Barkley comes up short again, and that leads to a highlight-reel moment for the returning Rodney McLeod.

It felt funny seeing Rodney McLeod on the opposite sideline when the Eagles most recently traveled to Indianapolis to beat the Colts. It feels equally as painful to see him in a Browns jersey.

Nothing can top seeing him somersault into the end zone to tie a game the Eagles should be leading comfortably.

We all remember the anguish of seeing Saquon Barkley drop that pass on Monday Night Football. 'Never again' we thought. He's been excellent. We can live with one mistake right?

Well, it happened again.

How about this sequence? Picture this if you missed it.

The Philadelphia Eagles were leading the Browns by a 10-3 score and driving at the close of the first half. Facing a second-and-one scenario, Jalen Hurts hit Saquon out of the backfield, and Philly's tailback ran out of bounds but failed to pick up the first down.

Rather than moving the sticks and giving Philly a fresh set of downs, the Birds were set up with a third-and-one scenario at Cleveland's 31-yard line.

Jalen Hurts is sacked for a nine-yard loss on the next play. Philly trotted Jake Elliott out to attempt a 56-yard field goal.

Then, it happened. Myles Garrett blocks the field-goal attempt, and Rodney McLeod does the rest.

Just like that, rather than taking a 13-3 lead into halftime, the Eagles are tied with the lowly Browns at the break.

Maybe blaming Saquon Barkley of this is a bit much. Maybe we're still scarred by the loss to the Atlanta Falcons. All we keep asking ourselves, however, is this. What if Saquon had caught that pass in Week 2? What if he had passed the first-down marker at the end of the first half in Week 6?

Fortunately, the Eagles have plenty of time to turn this around. That wasn't the case several weeks ago. Everybody breathe. Things will turn out okay... We hope!
