Last season was just not the type of season Philadelphia Eagles fans and wide receiver A.J. Brown wanted to go, leading to the inevitable breakup that finally happened, with Brown being traded to the New England Patriots for two draft picks.
There was drama that filled the 2025 campaign, with Brown reaching his breaking point as cryptic messages and posts were made public on social media throughout the season. In an exclusive interview with Maria Taylor, while Brown wouldn't apologize for how he worked with his teammates, he did make an interesting confession about something he regrets.
"Not every moment I can say I handled it the best way, especially the ones that was on social media like that was wrong. Me taking accountability for that, but with my teammates, I feel like I handled things correctly. We had tough conversations. We had face-to-face conversations, and we talked, and we pushed each other. We didn't really care who was uncomfortable, and I feel like as a leader, sometimes that can be frowned upon from the media, but it's always that one guy in that locker room who pushes guys and hold people accountable, and that was me. I didn't mind being viewed as whatever picture was painting me out to be. My teammates know that I had their back."
A.J. Brown admits that he regrets the cryptic posts on social media
Eagles fans struggled to share how they felt about the posts with Brown because most of his publicly made complaints were valid points about the offense struggling. At the same time, after going for over 100 yards in the win over the Minnesota Vikings, he made a post along the lines of "being used, but not being used," which triggered Eagles fans to be tired of the antics.
It's good to hear from Brown about that part of 2025, as that was something that bothered Eagles fans all season. The same fan base will be okay with his comment about handling his teammates correctly, since he was clearly a leader in the locker room and had his teammates' respect. Many times, when Brown said something, his teammates repeated the same thing and backed up what he said.
The Eagles don't have to worry about those kinds of distractions on the team anymore as they move forward with the roster they have. Brown learned his lesson, which might be why he deleted his X account right before the news broke that the Eagles were trading him to the Patriots.

A lot of lessons were learned last year as the Eagles moved into a new, but pivotal era of the franchise, where many jobs are on the line if things don't go well again.
