Yes, the Philadelphia Eagles just won the Super Bowl in grand fashion thanks to a downright dominant roster on both sides of the ball. But, that doesn't mean that fans -- and players -- of the organization aren't already fantasizing about ways for the team to get even better.
During a recent podcast appearance, Eagles star wide receiver A.J. Brown revealed his dream offseason addition for Philadelphia: Superstar defensive end Myles Garrett, who recently requested a trade away from the Cleveland Browns.
Garrett is an absolute menace on the defensive line, and his addition to any team would be a big boon, but the thought of him joining the already-dominant defense in Philly should be a downright scary thought for the rest of the league.
A.J. Brown names Myles Garrett as dream offseason addition for Eagles
We know that Eagles general manager Howie Roseman isn't scared to make a major move, so Philly certainly can't be counted out when it comes to a potential Garrett trade. Plus, they have a couple of key defenders up front headed for free agency in Josh Sweat, Zack Baun and Milton Williams, and the addition of Garrett could help to potentially offset some losses if any of those guys sign elsewhere in free agency.
For those reasons, Brown thinks Garrett would be an ideal addition for Philadelphia.
"I'd say Myles Garrett," Brown said on the Kickin It With Dee podcast, via Sports Illustrated. "I'll say Myles Garrett. Adding him with Jalen Carter, Nolan Smith, I don't know what's going to happen with Josh Sweat or Milton (Williams)."
At 29 years old, Garrett is already a six-time All-Pro and six-time Pro Bowler. He was named the NFL's Defensive Player of the Year in 2023, and he was recently ranked as the second-best player in the league for the 2024 campaign by Pro Football Focus.
Garrett currently has two years remaining on the five-year, $125 million extension he signed with Cleveland in 2020, but it remains to be seen if the Browns will actually try to trade him. He is the best player on the team, after all. If the Browns do decide to make a move, Philadelphia would obviously be an intriguing option.
The Eagles had the best defense in the entire league last season, and adding the best individual defender to the mix would certainly provide nightmare fuel for the other 31 teams.
