When there are only a couple of injuries, it shouldn't concern people much, but when there are three, Philadelphia Eagles fans should start raising a red flag.
Jalen Carter and Cooper DeJean missed the Eagles' first practice of their Week 2 preparation against the Tennessee Titans. Carter is dealing with a wrist injury, while DeJean has a calf/abdomen injury.
Well, a third Eagles starter is joining them, as Andrew Mukuba missed Thursday's practice with a knee injury, but Carter and DeJean returned to practice on a limited basis. This doesn't even include Jonathan Greenard working through his pectoral injury, but with four defensive stars hurt, concerns are popping up.
Eagles' injuries on defense is starting to become more of a concern
Yes, it's Week 2, and you shouldn't panic. That's not the point of this article, but with arguably four starters banged up and statuses up in the air, that is a concern.
Mukuba is building momentum at safety and looked solid in the 24-22 win over the Washington Commanders in Week 1. He had one tackle and allowed only one reception for six yards. Those coverage skills are getting better, which was a concern for Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio last year when Mukuba was a rookie.
It's not as great a look to have Carter in a cast on his wrist. That makes it seem like the Eagles should really consider sitting him if he has to play in a cast. They went through games last year without him due to injury, so why not get him healthy?
DeJean's situation depends on how he feels. He told the media that he expects to play, which is great, but when he wasn't healthy last week, he arguably had the worst game of his career.
Greenard might be the one guy among the starters who really needs to be out there and play. The Eagles spent $100 million, and no one has seen whether he's earned the money or if this was a financial mistake. So far, it doesn't look great for him.

The hope is that all these guys can come back in some capacity this week or next, and the good news is that they are playing a very bad football team: the Tennessee Titans. Let's hope this isn't a sign of things to come throughout the season.
