Getting old has taught me something. I enjoy every moment I get to spend with my children. We love Philadelphia Eagles football. We love Phillies games in the summer. The 76ers... That's a work in progress.
Still, I realize there's so much more that I could talk to them about. I realize now they remember Ice Cube more for The Longshots and Are We There Yet?. They know nothing of his musical career.
Then again, that last conversation may need to occur when they are older. Speaking of those Eagles... All they know about Ike Reese is that he's the guy on 94 WIP-FM with the cool radio voice.
I also love Ike on the radio, but I also remember the fiery special-teams contributor, which, if I'm being honest, is why I like him on the radio so much.
Ike Reese names the four potential Eagles draft prospects he has the most interest in.
It's hard not to love a guy like Ike Reese. He's well-spoken. He loves his Birds just like you and I. He has also been representing for Philly sports on 94 WIP-FM since 2008. In short, when Ike talks, we all listen.
Recently, he named the four draft prospects he is digging the most. The former Michigan State standout goes with four defenders from the mighty SEC. Each of these names should sound relatively familiar.
👀 I’ve locked in on these 4 players for the Birds 🦅 in the #NFLDraft next week. #FlyEaglesFly 💚 #SBLIXChamps 🏆 pic.twitter.com/562RA1MDM0

Mykel Williams, EDGE, Georgia Bulldogs
Here's a good choice. UGA has been kind to our Eagles, and landing Mykel Williams won't change that trend if added.
The six-foot-five, 265-pounder doesn't win as often as you'd like to see a first-round edge rusher win, but he does so many things so well, including stopping the run, that he more than distinguishes himself as an extraordinary (and worthy) Day 1 prospect.
Walter Nolen, Defensive Interior, Ole Miss Rebels
Walter Nolen might be the best interior defensive lineman in this class who is not named Mason Graham (Michigan). Others might rank another Wolverine, Kenneth Grant, ahead of the 2024 First-team All-SEC nod. Nolen also earned Consensus All-American honors. He's a strong run defender whose pass-rushing moves could use some polish, but he is, no doubt, a justifiable Day 1 selection.
Malaki Starks, Safety, Georgia
Malaki Starks was a playmaking safety in the SEC for three seasons. His traits for disruption should translate nicely to the NFL.
He can play strong safety, free safety, and move down to play slot corner if needed. He takes care of at least three needs for the Eagles defense and could certainly be a Day 1 contributor at the backend of Vic Fangio's defense.
43 career games at the NCAA level produced 197 tackles, six interceptions, and 17 pass breakups.
Maxwell Hairston, Cornerback, Kentucky Wildcats
If Philly adds Maxwell Hairston to what they already have at cornerback, they'll have one of the deeper and younger units in the game for a long, long time. Make no mistake about it. This young man could walk into the NovaCare Complex and compete with Kelee Ringo and Adoree' Jackson for a starting role immediately.
Final verdict: These are all some nice choices from Ike Reese. No wonder he gets paid to talk about football for a living.
