While the Philadelphia Eagles celebrated an incredible win over the Tennessee Titans in near-100-degree heat, the Chicago Bears lost to the Minnesota Vikings in the rain. They lost their starting quarterback, Caleb Williams.
The Bears lost Williams late in the fourth quarter after he injured his hamstring and was carted off the field. It was a tough scene for the Chicago fan base, which now has to wait to see how long he will be out.
NFL insider Tom Pelissero reported that Williams actually avoided a major injury and isn't being ruled out of the Eagles game. Eagles fans would think that would have a significant impact. While it does, Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio doesn't need to change his strategy.
Eagles have to stick with the same game plan against Bears after Caleb Williams' injury
The Eagles' defense still has a massive headache, with or without Williams on the field. Chicago's running game is a nightmare to defend.
This season, the Bears are averaging 211.5 yards per game, including 298 yards in Week 1 alone in their win over the Carolina Panthers, where they scored 59 points. Former Eagles running back D'Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai lead the backfield.
Swift and Monangai gave the Eagles fits last year in the 24-15 Black Friday loss. Monangai rushed for 130 yards on 22 carries and a touchdown, while Swift rushed for 125 yards on 18 carries and scored one as well. Williams only had 154 yards passing with a touchdown and a pick, so he really wasn't even a factor in that game. Chicago did run for 281 yards in the game.
Sure, the Bears could become a one-dimensional team and run the ball 40-50 times in a game, but that would still require the Eagles to stop them. So far, the Eagles have not been good against the run, allowing 127 yards per game on the ground.
This means the Eagles need more from what should have been a great front seven. It starts with Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis in the middle stopping them. Zack Baun and Jihaad Campbell also need to step up after mixed performances against the Titans.

The Eagles need to have a signature win after two close games against winless opponents. Philly needs to step up and play better against the Bears, no matter what the situation is with Williams.
