Cam Jurgens' optimistic fact delivers Eagles fans silver lining to what's coming

He's not completely wrong.

There are not a lot of happy people in Philadelphia after the Eagles suffered their second straight loss and the fourth of the season after falling to the Chicago Bears 24-15 on Black Friday.

The loss puts the Eagles at 8-4, but they now hold just a two-game lead in the NFC East with the Dallas Cowboys getting hot at the worst time. In terms of the number one seed, they are two games behind the Los Angeles Rams, but it's getting tougher to reach that spot.

After the game, Eagles center Cam Jurgens knows the frustration the city is feeling, but he had an encouraging message for the media and fans about a fact that could turn things around.

“The sky is still above us. We win four and lose two, win four and lose two, let’s go win the next four.”

Jurgens isn't exactly lying, but this situation might be different

It's true that the Eagles went through the same situation just a month ago. After winning the first four games of the season, they rattled off two losses in four days to the Denver Broncos and New York Giants before going on another four-game winning streak.

Eagles fans would love to believe that another four-game winning streak is in the cards, but optimism doesn't exactly live in Philadelphia right now. No one really wants to hear that right now.

This situation is different because it was the beginning of the season, and there was plenty of time to turn things around. The Eagles only have five more games to win the division and steal the top spot in the conference.

They are also slumping at the worst time, still facing the same problems they had back in September. Philly can't run the ball consistently, Kevin Patullo is too predictable with his offensive play-calling, and the team has costly penalties that set them back to the point where they can't work through them.

There are winnable games on the schedule the rest of the way, including the Washington Commanders twice and the Las Vegas Raiders, but there are some tough matchups, including the Los Angeles Chargers and the Buffalo Bills. It's a toss-up whether the Eagles can actually get the job done, but if they are going to do it, they need to get it done now.
