It's surprisingly quiet, but that's expected. No one holds their cards closer to the vest than the Philadelphia Eagles. Sometimes, however, the silence indicates they're just as busy as ever.
We've seen too many unexpected acquisitions, extensions, and trades over the years that seemingly come from nowhere. That's all the evidence we need to assume Howie Roseman is always working.
And, make no mistake, Howie is always working.
The Birds have been active in free agency, stocking the cupboard with low-risk, high-reward signings. Still, as quiet as Philly has been and can be, there are also moments where some of their moves are among the NFL's worst-kept secrets.
Cue the Dallas Goedert converstions.
Dallas Goedert is again mentioned as a trade piece

Every team’s best trade asset ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft is one of the better drops of the week, and it mentions an angle we've heard a few times.
It's no secret the Eagles have dangled Dallas Goedert as trade bait. Theories are the Birds are expected to trade him if a deal can't be reached.
PFF mentions him as Philly's best trade piece. Here's what Bradley Locker, the writer of this one, mentions as his reasoning for saying so.
"Eagles general manager Howie Roseman might be the most forward-thinking executive in the sport, which is why it’s not surprising to see him engage in trade discussions for Goedert.
The 30-year-old tight end was productive yet again for Philadelphia last year, producing a 75.8 PFF receiving grade with 6.6 yards after the catch per reception. At the same time, he played in only 14 of 20 games due to a knee injury and will be a free agent in 2026. There’s a good chance the Eagles will trade Goedert before the draft and select a tight end on Day 2 or 3."
Philly is in luck. If they move on from Goedert as we expect, this is a deep draft class for tight ends. But, these days, it's hard to find one that catches the ball and blocks as Goedert does with equal proficiency.
Goedert has been a great Eagle, and if this is it, we appreciate all he has added to the cause. Our expectation is Philly will end up having to release him, but we'll see. The jury is still out on that one.
