Dallas Goedert injury update: Decent news comes naming the Eagles star
Well, we've butchered a couple of bold predictions we made naming Dallas Goedert, but what's new? We seemingly do that every Philadelphia Eagles season.
That isn't our fault though...
Sure, we do that every year. At this point, we can't remember when this started, but we've predicted a 1,000-yard receiving season for a while now.
Then, every year, like clockwork, the same things happen. We complain about his prime years being wasted, or he gets injured, or both. But, we just knew he'd eclipse 1,000 yards this year.
We were wrong.
Goedert missed three games (Weeks 7-9). Week 13 wrapped with 441 receiving yards on his regular-season resume. Now, there's something else. He was forced out of action vs. the Baltimore Ravens, and we're back to discussing another injury.
Fortunately some not-so-bad news came regarding Dallas Goedert's injury on the Monday following the Week 13 Eagles game.
Here we sit, basking in the glow of an eighth consecutive Eagles win. Our thoughts are admittedly on a few injuries.
Darius Slay, Johnny Wilson, and DeVonta Smith all missed the game with injuries. Reed Blankenship was forced out of action with a concussion. Goedert has a knee issue to nurse.
But, here's some pretty good news... Not great... But, pretty good...
The Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane reports "Dallas Goedert's knee injury wasn't deemed serious upon initial diagnosis". McLane also states further testing is scheduled for Monday and that the Eagles hope he's only experienced a strain.
That's about as good as you can expect. Our fingers are crossed for the best. The Eagles are entering the home stretch. It would be nice if they did so at full strength. The playoffs loom, and Goedert, even if he has been criminally underutilized throughout his career, provides another solid weapon in the offensive attack.
On Sunday, he racked up three catches, 35 yards, and a TD reception on four targets. The score was his second trip to the end zone this season.
