Shedeur Sanders was the most talked about player in the 2025 NFL Draft class, especially as he tumbled all the way down to the fifth round. He ended up on the Cleveland Browns, where he is the third quarterback option behind Joe Flacco and Dillon Gabriel.
Before Week 2, a bombshell report dropped from ESPN's Adam Schefter that the Baltimore Ravens were going to draft Sanders in the fifth round. Still, the quarterback said he didn't want to join them, mainly because he would be a backup to Lamar Jackson with no chance to take over as the starting quarterback.
This week, Deion was the guest on Jason and Travis Kelce's New Heights podcast, where he revealed that the Philadelphia Eagles were another team that called Shedeur with the intent of drafting him. Just like with the Ravens, Shedeur said that he didn't want to join the Eagles because of the inability to start.

Deion Sanders revealed Shedeur turned down chance to be drafted by Eagles
Deion mostly touched on the reasoning behind Shedeur turning down the Ravens, suggesting that he wouldn't have learned anything by sitting on the bench.
"How in the world can somebody fault him for saying or thinking 'why in the world would I go back up Lamar [Jackson] for 10 more years,'" said Deion. "I've never sat on the bench and said, "well, I learned a lot today.'"
The reality is, Sheduer would have been in a similar situation in Philadelphia as in Baltimore. That's because Jalen Hurts is going to be the starting quarterback for the foreseeable future. After all, he helped lead the team to their second Super Bowl title last season and is among the highest-paid quarterbacks in the league. The only way Shedeur would have started is if Hurts was sidelined by injury.
On paper, Shedeur did have a better shot at starting for the Cleveland Browns than anywhere else. After a strong preseason start against the Carolina Panthers, Shedeur looked to be on the way to potentially giving Flacco a fight. However, Shedeur suffered an oblique injury that forced him to miss the next game. That allowed Gabriel to take the reins, and he ultimately won the backup job.

So yes, the Eagles were the other team interested in Shedeur, but ultimately decided against drafting him. The Eagles did draft Kyle McCord in the sixth round, and he's currently on the practice squad.
