While most of Philadelphia came out winners in the Eagles' Tush Push ruling, not everyone in the city would
The play that has caused so much controversy over the last three years was voted on by NFL owners on Wednesday, with the results going in favor of the Eagles. With just two votes shy, the Green Bay Packers' revised proposal to ban the Tush Push did not stand.
Now, the aftermath of the move has some people wondering who emerged as winners and who are considered losers. Even an Eagles player will feel the Tush Push staying in the playbook more than others.
Which Eagles player is considered a "loser" from the Tush Push verdict
CBS Sports writer Tyler Sullivan named his winners and losers from the Tush Push decision. One of the obvious losers Sullivan named was the Packers, and the other 21 NFL teams that voted for the proposal. There was another loser brought up, though.
Sullivan also named Eagles running back Saquon Barkley another "loser" in the aftermath. While the term is not used correctly, as Sullivan stated, it will deprive Barkley of touchdown opportunities.
"Nothing about the last calendar year should put Saquon Barkley in a 'loser' section, but it sort of applies here. While the Eagles star running back has come to the defense of the 'Tush Push,' he would've been one of the main beneficiaries from a statistical standpoint had it been banned.
Last year, Barkley went bonkers, rushing for over 2,000 yards and registering 13 rushing touchdowns, which he turned into the 2024 Offensive Player of the Year award. But as stellar as last season was, it could've been even more prolific. As noted by Ian Hartitz of Fantasy Life, there were nine instances in 2024 where Barkley traveled to the 1-yard line only to not score a touchdown, which was a league high. That's because Philadelphia routinely lines up in the 'Tush Push' formation in such scenarios, which takes a scoring opportunity away from Barkley."
To be exact, Barkley rushed for an NFL record 2,504 yards in the regular season and playoffs to help the Eagles win the Super Bowl. His postseason performance was impressive with 499 yards and five touchdowns in four games.
Barkley has felt the effects of the Tush Push, which takes scoring chances away from him, but he has been a supporter of the play. Before the Met Gala this month, he defended the play.

"If you don't like it, get better at stopping it. It's not like a play that we can only do. Everyone does it. Everybody tries it. We're just super successful at it. They were super successful before I was there. I know what it does to a team, how it breaks down a team, and now, being on the team, you line up, and everyone knows what you're doing. It's like 'stop me' and they can't. They're going to get in their feels about it. They're going to try to make changes, but I don't see that happening, and if it doesn't, just get better at stopping it."
According to USA Today, the Eagles converted 39 of the 48 Tush Pushes into first downs or touchdowns last season. That is data that no one can deny is successful.
From a fantasy perspective, yes, this is a hit on Barkley's numbers, but let's be honest, he'll take the loss on it if it means more Super Bowl titles for the Eagles.
