The news we thought we'd receive came on Saturday, sort of. It has been announced that Britain Covey, after seeing his 21-day practice window opened earlier this week, has been elevated from the Philadelphia Eagles' injured reserve to their 53-man active roster. Good for him. There's just one minor detail. He hasn't been given a game designation.
That's okay. We're just glad he's trending in the right direction physically. The Birds will announce their inactives 90 minutes before kickoff of their Week 12 game versus the L.A. Rams. Something tells us Britain will be playing.
His activation was one-half of Philly's Saturday afternoon roster announcements. Another involves Philly's practice squad.
Tight end C.J. Uzomah has been elevated to the Eagles' active roster.
C.J. Uzomah is also active. He has been elevated from the Eagles scout team to the active roster ahead of Philly's game versus the Los Angeles Rams.
That's interesting because he was also elevated in Week 11 for Philly's battle with the Washington Commanders. That means Philly has used their maximum number of elevations on him. He'd now have to be signed to the active roster to play on game days moving forward.
We've seen a roller-coaster ride with him so far since he joined Philly's roster. He was acquired by the Eagles on April 11th by way of a one-year deal. He was released on August 21, 2024 before re-signing with the practice squad on October 10th.
Philly's game vs. the Washington Commanders was the first time he was active. He played three offensive snaps but wasn't targeted as he failed to crack the stat sheet.
If Britain Covey plays, it will be interesting to see if he handles any wide receiver duty. He and Cooper DeJean give Philly a couple of good options at punt returner.
