The Philadelphia Eagles are widely recognized as having the best-run operation in the National Football League. Between general manager Howie Roseman and his crew of front office members, those around the league revere what goes on in Philadelphia on a yearly basis.
Roseman, in particular, gets a lot of credit for his instant-impact draft selections and fleecing other NFL teams in trades. He has even acquired two promising players since the preseason began, with cornerback Jakorian Bennett and wide receiver John Metchie III.
Not every team is as fortunate to have the talent and depth that the Eagles do, nor do they have general managers that can seemingly supercede any issues. These are the organizations that the Eagles take advantage of, and Roseman has another opportunity to do so.
Eagles should avoid trading WR to Vikings despite their issues
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported on Wednesday that the Minnesota Vikings were in the market to trade for a veteran wide receiver. This development comes in the wake of Jordan Addison's suspension and several wideouts, including Justin Jefferson, dealing with injuries this preseason.
While the Eagles are an obvious candidate to offload a receiver, given their star tandem of A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith, their supporting pieces are actually too valuable to get rid of. Plus, they would be helping out another potential NFC contender, which is not ideal right before the season.
Players like Metchie and Jahan Dotson would typically be viewed as expendable in a scenario like this, but Metchie just arrived, and Dotson figures to be an integral part of the offense during the 2025 season.
Plus, second-year wideout Johnny Wilson just suffered a season-ending knee and ankle injury at practice earlier this week, so wide receiver depth became that much more critical in Philadelphia.
A young player like Darius Cooper or someone like Ainias Smith does not have enough trade value for the Vikings to even pick up the phone, so a trade here may be a non-starter despite the Eagles being linked to seemingly every conceivable deal in the league.

There are several teams around the league who could look to give away a receiver for a draft pick in an attempt to recuperate assets and build a team for the future. The Eagles, who have their sights set on a Super Bowl again this season, are surely not one of them.
