One of the top storylines entering NFL training camp was the Washington Commanders' wide receiver Terry McLaurin's desire for a new contract. That situation is starting to escalate to the point of almost no return.
NFL insiders Adam Schefter and Jordan Schultz reported that McLaurin has now requested a trade out of Washington. It originally started as just a holdout, but the McLaurin showed up to camp recently. Now he might be out the door completely.

Eagles are only going to benefit from a Commanders-McLaurin trade
There have been multiple instances over the last few years where players have requested a trade, but it hasn't materialized, so it doesn't seem likely that one is forthcoming in Washington. McLaurin has been the team's top receiver dating back to when he was drafted by the team in 2019.
Five consecutive seasons have had McLaurin hit over 1,000 yards in a season. He currently has 6,379 yards and 38 touchdowns in 97 games.
This unfortunate situation in Washington can only be seen as a blessing for the Eagles. Washington is the biggest threat to Philly's chances of winning not only the NFC East and NFC, but also the Super Bowl.
Last year, the two teams split the regular season series, with the Eagles winning the first game at home and the Commanders taking the second game at home. The NFC Conference title game worked in favor of the Eagles after their 55-23 win over the Commanders, securing a spot in the Super Bowl.
Commanders being forced to trade McLaurin would disrupt any momentum they had from last year and give the Eagles a clear path to winning the division and conference. Keeping McLaurin, though, would only hold that race between Washington and Philadelphia tight.

Regardless of how the Commanders handle the situation, the Eagles remain the class of the NFL and will likely be one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl once again.
