More often than not, the SEC has been analyzed as a farm system of sorts for the mighty NFL. That doesn't mean every player drafted out of the Southeastern Conference will dominate at the next level, but when we look at current Philadelphia Eagles like Landon Dickerson, DeVonta Smith, Jalen Carter, something begins to dawn on us.

This team got really good when they began hanging their hat on scouting and taking players those southern football programs.

Philly hasn't just drafted well. They've also found former SEC stars in free agency and by trade. Braden Mann, A.J. Brown and C.J Gardner-Johnson come to mind.

Now, they're at it again. We've all wondered if they'd make a move with Bryce Huff and Brandon Graham on the shelf, and they have. News breaks they're adding another former SEC standout.

Veteran edge rusher Charles Harris joins the Eagles' nest.

According to multiple reports, the Philadelphia Eagles are signing veteran edge rusher Charles Harris. He's a former first-rounder out of the Missouri Tigers program.

Harris earned two Second-Team All-SEC nods (2015, 2016), and was taken 22nd overall in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins during a selection meeting that was ironically held in Philly. The Fins took him eight spots after the Birds acquired Derek Barnett.

Harris has spent time with four different franchises before arriving in the City of Brotherly Love: Miami (2017-19), the Atlanta Falcons (2020), the Detroit Lions (2021-23), and Carolina Panthers (2024).

So far, he has appeared in 99 regular-season NFL games with 36 starts. Durability is a question mark as he hasn't played a full season since 2021.

He still has tread on the tires. He won't turn 30 years old until March 6th. He stands at six-foot-three and tips the scales at 250 pounds. He's racked 192 tackles, three forced fumbles, and 19.5 sacks during his eight-year NFL career.
