Eagles defensive trio delivers MVP-level performances in a defining win

The Eagles' defense held Washington to 18 total points, their lowest total all season to allow for a Week 11 win on Thursday Night Football.

The Philadelphia Eagles weren't very polished during their Week 11 game against the Washington Commanders, but the Birds defense has shown once again that they're here to work.

They seized control late but surrendered a garbage touchdown late. That put 18 points on Washington's side of the scoreboard, but the game wasn't as close as the 26-18 final score would indicate. It also serves as another feather in Vic Fangio's cap.

This was the Commanders' lowest point total of the season so far.

Eagles defense pulls through for Week 11 win

We tip our caps to a trio of Eagles defenders.

Zack Baun

On Wednesday, Zack Baun was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week. He kept his momentum going on Thursday Night Football, notching 15 total tackles, including 1 TFL. He now has a career-high 102 tackles on the season, 47 more than he's ever tallied.

Baun's most notable play was in the 4th quarter. He and teammate Reed Blankenship stopped quarterback Jayden Daniels short of the first-down marker. That produced a turnover on downs. Philly scored a TD on their next two possessions.

Oh, and speaking of Reed Blankenship.

Reed Blankenship

Reed finished with 10 total tackles, but more impressive than that was his interception off of the arm of Jayden Daniels. Washington's rookie QB had only thrown two during his first ten NFL games.

The interception came at an opportune time in the 4th quarter. Daniels eyed Noah Brown. Blankenship secured the ball on Washington's 46-yard line, leading for Saquon Barkley's second touchdown of the night.

Quinyon Mitchell

Mitchell may have only had one total tackle, but he stopped one of Washington's best playmakers. Before Thursday Night Football, Commander's wide receiver Terry McLaurin had 847 yards and 10 touchdowns against the Eagles.

Q is certainly in the NFL's Defensive Rookie of the Year conversation. Read them and weep.

What else needs to be said?

Worth noting: The Eagles defense is stacking up the takeaways

It's no secret Vic Fangio has completely redefined the Eagles defense. With a number of other playmakers, including Brandon Graham, Nakobe Dean, Cooper DeJean, etc, it's difficult to find a bad defensive player on the field.

In the last four games, the Eagles have had 11 takeaways. With sole possession of the NFC East's lead, fans are hoping the turnover party will continue.

If the Eagles' offense can continue holding up its end of the bargain and be more consistent, we could be looking at a real Super Bowl contender.
