The Eagles' defensive line was going to be under immense pressure in 2025, with the team opting to invest in Jordan Davis, Moro Ojomo, and Jalen Carter, while also moving on from Bryce Huff, Milton Williams, and Josh Sweat. For the first 10 weeks of the season, Philadelphia looked anemic as a pass-rushing unit, forcing Howie Roseman to make a trade for Jaelan Phillips, while also bringing Brandon Graham out of retirement.
After riding the wave of up and down pass rushing efforts, the Eagles' front four has exploded the last couple of weeks, including a five-sack performance by the team against the Buffalo Bills. Over the past four games, the Eagles have totaled 18 sacks with a four-man rush, seven more than any other defense entering Sunday Night Football, per NextGen Stats.
With their recent performance, the Eagles have eclipsed their 2024 sack total of 41, now sitting at 42 with one game remaining this season.
Eagles' 2025 pass rush is well ahead of where they were in 2024
The emergence of Moro Ojomo, who has given Philadelphia six sacks this year, replacing and surpassing Milton Williams from a year ago.
The Eagles have also seen Jaelan Phillips and Brandon Graham push new life into the unit, with the pair combining for five sacks since Phillips joined the team. In addition to Ojomo taking a step forward, second-year EDGE rusher Jalyx Hunt is now leading the team in sacks after a two-sack performance in Week 17, bringing his total to 6.5 on the year, mitigating the loss of Josh Sweat. It's also worth noting that Hunt has totaled 4.5 sacks over the past four games as well.
While Philadelphia doesn't have the "go to" EDGE rusher, the unit as a whole is collectively coming together to be a disruptive force during the playoff push. The Eagles have a great leader in Vic Fangio calling the defensive shots. The veteran coordinator has plenty of tools to continue to keep pressure on opposing quarterbacks for the final part of the season.
