Since Nick Sirianni was hired by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2021, all the Philadelphia Eagles have done is win. The team has yet to have a losing record or even miss the playoffs in Sirianni's four years at the helm and they've been to two Super Bowls since he took over.
While the Eagles lost Super Bowl 57 in heartbreaking fashion, Sirianni finally got over the hump in Year 4, winning Super Bowl 59 in a beatdown over the Kansas City Chiefs. Before the big game, FanSided and the Special Olympics teamed up, paving the way for Malcom Harris-Gowdie and Wyatt Spalding to attend media-related events leading up to the game.
Sirianni was asked by Harris-Gowdie what players he looked up to growing up and the answer he gave might surprise some people.
"There was moments I had that I was a Browns fan and I loved Eric Metcalf," Sirianni responded.
Eagles HC Nick Sirianni reveals he was a Browns fans growing up
Despite growing up in New York, Sirianni rooted for the Browns as a kid. He did attend college in the state of Ohio, playing wide receiver at Mount Union in Alliance, Ohio, which is roughly an hour and 15 minute drive from Cleveland.
Sirianni's love for Eric Metcalf makes sense considering Sirianni's history of playing wide receiver and Metcalf played both wide receiver and running back during his NFL playing days. Metcalf was a first-round pick by the Browns in 1989 and played there for six years before bouncing around the league for his final seven seasons.
It might be a bit of a surprise to find out that Sirianni was a Browns fans growing up but all that matters now is that he's led the Eagles to their second-ever Super Bowl title. It feels like more are on the way with Sirianni at the helm too.
