The Philadelphia Eagles will once again go into a game shorthanded, as they face a significant disadvantage in their Week 7 showdown against the Dallas Cowboys.
It's been a long week for Eagles injury news, as they have officially lost Jalen Hurts for the season after a blood clot moved up from his calf to his lungs. They also placed running back Carson Steele on IR.
Throughout practice this week, too, many starters were listed, and there were a ton of questions about whether they'd play. Here is what the final injury report showed for the Eagles on some of the team's big names.
- DeVonta Smith and Donatyvion Wicks are out for Eagles' Week 7 game
- Saquon Barkley is questionable for the Cowboys game
- Jonathan Greenard's status is up in the air
- Nolan Smith Jr. also won't play against the Cowboys
- Other key injury updates for the Eagles
DeVonta Smith and Donatyvion Wicks are out for Eagles' Week 7 game
Here is the crushing news Eagles fans will hate to hear: DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks are both out for the game. Smith is dealing with a hamstring injury that has already cost him two games this season, while Wicks is dealing with an ankle injury that will cost him his first game of the year.
The two receivers combine for 594 yards and three touchdowns, accounting for nearly 50% of the offense's receiving yards. Makai Lemon and Darius Cooper will replace Smith and Wicks in the lineup.
Saquon Barkley is questionable for the Cowboys game
Barkley fully participated in practice on Saturday, which is great news for the Eagles. Still, the team has listed him as questionable for the game despite early reports saying that he is trending toward playing in Week 7.
He has missed the last two games with a hamstring injury, and the Eagles rushed for only 57 total yards in those contests. Barkley has 182 yards and is averaging 5.1 yards per carry in four games this year.
Jonathan Greenard's status is up in the air
It wouldn't be a normal week for the Eagles without another Jonathan Greenard injury update. Greenard is now questionable with his ankle injury after missing the last two days of practice.
This season, Greenard has only played in three games and has one tackle and zero sacks. If he can't play, A.J. Epenesa and Arnold Ebiketie will step in for him.
Nolan Smith Jr. also won't play against the Cowboys
Nolan Smith Jr. won't be on the field for the Eagles, as he was ruled out for the Cowboys game after suffering a concussion in the team's Week 6 loss to the Carolina Panthers. Smith was not able to clear concussion protocol in time, leaving now Week 8 as his chanc to return.
The Eagles will lose their top pass rusher this season, as Smith is tied with Jalen Carter for the team lead in sacks with three sacks. Epenesa and Ebiketie will step into the lineup for him.
Other key injury updates for the Eagles
Besides Greenard and Barkley, there are five other Eagles that are listed as questionable for the game:
- Jalyx Hunt, EDGE
- Eli Stowers, TE
- Landon Dickerson, LG
- Grant Calcaterra, TE
- Jakorian Bennett, CB
Hunt is a key name since the Eagles won't have Smith and might not have Greenard. If Hunt can't play, the Eagles will be very shorthanded with their edge rushers.
Stowers and Calcaterra have been on IR for most of the season and haven't played much. They are waiting to see what happens with Zach Ertz on IR, since they only have Dallas Goedert and Johnny Mundt at tight end, and they released E.J. Jenkins.
Dickerson is another big name to monitor, since he's been on IR since the start of Week 2 with a knee injury. He has little time before they have to move him to the 53-man roster, so it will be interesting to see how they handle it.

Another Eagles player out for the Cowboys game is safety Michael Carter, who is dealing with the abdominal injury he suffered in the Week 5 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Marcus Epps will start at safety in Carter's place, with Kenny Moore getting some looks.
