One of Phildelphia’s biggest, yet expected losses was edge rusher Josh Sweat who will reunite with Jonathan Gannon with the Arizona Cardinals. Sweat left the Eagles to sign a four-year. $76.4 million deal to join the Cardinals and now the Eagles will need to find a replacement for him.

The Eagles managed to sign Azeez Ojulari and Joshua Uche to bring in a rotational pass rush, but it wouldn’t hurt to add in another pass rusher through the draft. Especially given the fact that we saw the type of quarterback Jayden Daniels is and how much of a threat he will be in the NFC East.

General manager Howie Roseman has done a phenomenal job in the draft, but a little bit of it has been luck with guys sliding down. The fact that they were able to acquire DT Jalen Carter at No. 9 in 2023, CB Quinyon Mitchell at No. 22 overall last year, as well as DB Cooper DeJean in the second round, Roseman did not hesitate to take advantage of other team’s mistakes. Will that be the case this year? We sure hope so.

Dream NFL mock draft has Eagles finding the perfect Josh Sweat replacement

Sayre Bedinger from NFL Spin Zone recently dropped a four-round mock draft and with the Eagles’ first round pick, they find just the perfect prospect to boost up their pass rush. At No. 32, the Eagles select DE Donovan Ezeiruaku out of Boston College.

"Here, he actually gets a really great value with Boston College edge rusher Donovan Ezeiruaku, who has been extremely productive and has the type of athleticism the Eagles covet off the edge. He would be a grand slam of a pick this late in the first round and would allow the Eagles and defensive coordinator Vic Fangio to keep on sending pass rush in waves."

Ezeiruaku was a phenomenal player for the Boston College Eagles last season, racking up 16.5 sacks and also had 80 total tackles. The fact that he slid down all the way to the Eagles on the backend of the first round, this would be a major steal for Roseman and the Eagles.

Philadelphia has to prioritize building up the defense to keep things aflow as much as possible. If they manage to build up their defense again, it increases their chance at potentially repeating as Super Bowl champions.

You can never have too many pass rushers, no matter which division you are in. They are a quarterback’s worst nightmare. Philadelphia is already a scary team and them adding more on defense will make them even more ferocious.
