Super Bowl 59 was all about revenge for the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles got revenge on the Kansas City Chiefs, Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes, and yes, even on Travis Kelce... in the name of Jason Kelce.

Eagles prevent potential storybook ending to Travis Kelce's career, like the Chiefs did to Jason

Two years ago, Travis and the Chiefs bested the Eagles in Super Bowl 57 and robbed Jason of a chance of winning a second Super Bowl and ending his career on an unbelievably high note. He ended up playing one more season and then retired following Philly's underwhelming 2023 campaign. He didn't get the happy ending that he would have had the Eagles won that second title.

Heading into Super Bowl 57, there were already retirement rumors swirling regarding Jason, and now there's a similar situation involving Travis, who faces an uncertain football future at 35 years old. There were swirling rumors about retirement heading into Super Bowl 59, as perhaps Kelce was looking to ride off into the sunset after helping the Chiefs achieve the first three-peat in NFL history. End his career on a high-note, if you will.

But, the Eagles robbed him of that opportunity. Now, he'll have to decide if he wants to stick around for another run. Jason decided to, and it didn't quite work out the way he would have hoped, as the Eagles were smoked by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card round in what proved to be his final game. Could it be a similar situation in Kansas City?

It's pretty clear that the Chiefs need to retool a bit over the offseason, as they were completely dominated on both sides of the ball by the Eagles in the Super Bowl. But, they should still be right in the thick of the contender conversation moving forward, so perhaps Travis will decide to stick around and give it one more shot. The thought of a fourth Super Bowl ring is probably pretty alluring.

But, the story would have been. much cleaner, and it probably would have been easier for him to walk away had the Chiefs won again. Now though, Travis finds himself in a similar predicament to the one Jason was in just a couple of years ago. It's an interesting storyline. Far from the most interesting from Philadelphia's second Super Bowl win, but an interesting one nonetheless.
