Eagles gifted perfect chance to right the ship as familiar face visits Philly

What a surprise!

The Philadelphia Eagles are spiraling in the waning weeks of the 2025 NFL season. After gutty back-to-back wins against the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions to regain NFC superiority, Nick Sirianni's team has dropped three straight games, and there's no end in sight.

Well, there actually is a viable end in sight. In Week 15, the Eagles will host the Las Vegas Raiders at Lincoln Financial Field in what is expected to be a cold, and perhaps snowy, early Sunday matchup. The Raiders play indoors and in the desert, so that'll be a challenging task for them.

Plus, Las Vegas is 2-11 and on a seven-game losing streak, and they've dropped 11 of their last 12 games. To make matters worse, they might not even have their starting quarterback when they come to Philly. Instead, they'd start a familiar face to Eagles fans, which is a prime chance to right the ship.

Eagles licking their chops as Raiders may start Kenny Pickett in Week 15

In Week 14 against the Denver Broncos, starting Raiders quarterback Geno Smith went down with two separate injuries. That paved the way for former Eagles backup Kenny Pickett to enter the game, and given where Las Vegas is at record-wise, they may be more inclined to throw Pickett out there.

To be fair, Pickett wasn't a bad backup for the Eagles, and he played well on Sunday. He also filled in admirably in a tough late-season loss to the Washington Commanders last year, and he started in a 41-7 blowout of the Dallas Cowboys in 2024.

Of course, he did have this embarrassing viral moment, but his tenure in Philly wasn't too bad overall.

Philadelphia's front office, however, let Pickett know how they felt about him by trading him to the Cleveland Browns this offseason and instead rolling with Tanner McKee, Sam Howell, and rookie Kyle McCord behind Jalen Hurts.

But that doesn't mean that Pickett isn't a capable player, and if he is given the chance to start against the team that began his snowball of recent trades, he'll surely have revenge on his mind. But this Raiders team is so, so bad that a great showing from Pickett shouldn't even be enough.

There are several other ties between the two teams this weekend, as Jakorian Bennett and Marcus Epps both spent time in Las Vegas, and the Raiders, thanks to poaching executives like Brandon Hunt and Anthony Patch, have former Eagles like Devin White, Tristin McCollum, and Thomas Booker IV.

However, Pickett starting a game in Philly would be epic, in a way, as the Eagles would both have a good chance of winning and a good chance of proving themselves right by trading him away. If Pickett pulled out a win, all hell would break loose. But that's unlikely to happen.
