Did we just witness the most dominant performance in Super Bowl history? There will be plenty of time to discuss that, but the Philadelphia Eagles bludgeoned the Kansas City Chiefs pillar to post, ending KC's quest to become the first NFL team to win three Super Bowls in a row.
The Eagles hung 40 points on the Chiefs' vaunted defense, but the story of the game was Vic Fangio's defense stymieing Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes.
There is a case to be made that Mahomes turned in the worst Super Bowl performance ever by a quarterback. In the first half alone, the Chiefs mustered 23 total yards. Mahomes was pressured 13 times and threw two interceptions including an ugly pick-six to Cooper DeJean that really turned the game on its head.
Kansas City didn't break the shutout until the Eagles led 34-0. At that point, Fangio called off the hounds and played prevent defense.
Chiefs fans don't know what to think right now. What does the loss mean for Mahomes' legacy? Their heads are spinning. So much so that they are calling for offensive coordinator Matt Nagy to be fired after the all-time dud.
Chiefs fans want Matt Nagy fired after Eagles' dominant Super Bowl win
I'm not joking and this isn't an overreaction:

The Chiefs 100% need to fire Matt Nagy and hire someone outside Andy Reid's tree.
He will never do it and that's a mistake.
It might be reactionary for a team that just won three Super Bowls in five years to fire a prominent coach like Nagy, but would it really be that crazy?
Yes, the Eagles defense is an absolute juggernaut. They have stars at all three levels and an elite coordinator in Fangio, but we're also talking about Patrick freaking Mahomes. He has been defense-proof throughout his career and Philly rendered him broken in the biggest game of his life.

While Andy Reid is tasked with play-calling and deserves a major share of the blame pie, but Nagy coordinated arguably the worst offensive performance in Super Bowl history. The Chiefs didn't resemble an NFL offense until the deficit approached 40 points.
If nothing else, Chiefs' fans misery and turmoil makes this win even sweeter for Eagles fans. The majority of folks picked Kansas City to win due to their penchant for winning on the biggest stage. Only a select few considered that Philly was the more talented team.
Remember Saquon Barkley's historic postseason up until this point? He was an afterthought on Sunday. Jalen Hurts finished as the team's leading rusher. Josh Sweat is probably still bull-rushing Joe Thuney into Mahomes' lap. Zack Baun capped a great playoffs with another turnover. The list of contributors is truly endless.
Perhaps the best part of the victory, though, is that the Eagles have sent the previously invincible Chiefs - and their obnoxious fan base - spiraling into an offseason that suddenly has a lot more questions than answers.
