Call it karma, sowing bad seed and reaping the same, or some sort of divine intervention. Here's a quick recap of a story we didn't spend too much time discussing. Washington Commanders tailback Brian Robinson spoke with media members days before his team's game vs. the NFC East-leading Philadelphia Eagles and said the Commanders were the better team.
You can only guess what happened next, right?
Picture it. The Commanders are facing a 4th-and-one scenario during the first drive. Guess who takes the ball on the handoff.
The Eagles make Brian Robinson eat crow during his first two touches of the football during Eagles vs. Commanders.
The headline says it all. The Eagles are making Brian Robinson eat a little crow. His first two touches resulted in a turnover on downs and a fumble, and folks, we're here for all of the smoke.
Washington's first drive lasted 49 seconds. They handed the ball to Robinson at midfield facing a 4th-and-one scenario. He's stopped for no gain by Josh Sweat and Jordan Davis... And, he heard about it.
Then, Washington got the ball again...
Their first play of their second drive... Robinson takes a Jayden Daniels handoff. He's stopped for a two-yard loss and forgets to take the football with him...
Than, he fumbled AGAIN...
Washington is again in possession of the football. This is their fifth drive. They're facing a first-and-ten scenario at Philly's 16-yard line (this is partially due to a bogus personal-foul penalty on Jalen Carter).
A direct snap goes to Brian Robinson. You guessed it. He puts the ball on the turf yet again. Say hello to Cooper DeJean and thank him for the fumble recovery.
We tell you what. You can't make this stuff up. This is why coaches used to warn guys about bulletin board material.
Maybe Mr. Robinson should have gone the boring route and used some 'coach speak'. You know... Maybe he could have said something about how 'this would be a great game between division rivals' and how he 'relished the opportunity to play vs. a tough opponent.
