Eagles news: Commanders throw wrench in Philly's plans, an early Week 15 injury
The Philadelphia Eagles woke up this morning feeling pretty good. We hear Nick Sirianni showed them a few clips encouraging camaraderie. We've heard all week that they're past the hiccup from last week's drama.
The cross-state Pittsburgh Steelers are in town. Something has to give here. The Birds have never beaten Russell Wilson. Mike Tomlin has never won in the City of Brotherly Love.
As you might expect, however, that isn't all that we have to discuss.
Eagles news: The Commanders throw a wrench in the Eagles' short-term plans.
We mentioned Philly waking up happy. They knew they'd clinch the NFC East if they took care of business vs. the Steelers and the rival Washington Commanders lost vs. the New Orleans Saints.
Washington chose not to cooperate.
The Commanders held on in Week 15 for a 20-19 road win. That means a division title for the Birds has to wait at least a week. Philly can't clinch the NFC East on Sunday, even with a win.
More Eagles news: Sydney Brown leaves Week 15 game with apparent head injury.
When he thinks of the 2024 calendar year, Sydney Brown might be the most eager to turn the page and move on to 2025. Injuries have plagued him all season. He has only appeared in eight if the Eagles' 14 regular-season games played so far.
But, unfortunately, he was injured in Week 15.
Playing on special teams, he went to the turf during the opening kickoff. He is reportedly being evaluated for a concussion. We'll keep you abreast of any updates.
