Eagles news: Jalen Hurts leaps over McNabb, AJ Brown exits with an injury
We knew this would be a great day. This feels like one of those high school homecoming nights. The Philadelphia Eagles threw on their Kelly Green jerseys. Legends showed up in bunches as LeSean McCoy took his place among Birds immortals. Philly even scheduled a team they knew they'd beat as their homecoming opponent.
Okay, so maybe all that's a bit of a stretch and maybe we may have known who the Week 9 opponent was months ago, but hey, it sounds good.
Daylight savings time kicked in early this morning, so it got dark early at Lincoln Financial Field, but we had some fun. Doug Pederson brought his Jacksonville Jaguars to Philly for a football game. We saw a jinx broken. Jalen Hurts made some history.
Eagles news: AJ Brown is injured.
You never want to see guys get hurt, but we realize it happens. The NFL is a demolition derby. Everyone, even if they're playing is being hampered by something.
AJ Brown missed Weeks 2-4 with a hamstring injury. He left Week 9's game early because of a knee issue, and it doesn't look like he'll be returning to this one.
Don't look now. Ben VanSumeren is also out.
Hopefully, AJ is okay. We doubt we'll hear much about the extent of AJ's injury today, but if we do, check back to this one for updates.
More Eagles news: Jalen Hurts makes history
Well, as usual, the Eagles didn't make it easy on themselves vs. the Jacksonville Jaguars. They eschewed extra-point attempts and easy field-goal attempts for Jake Elliott on two separate occasions.
Here's some good news (because we're determined to end this on a high note). Jalen Hurts has leapfrogged the man who is statistically the best quarterback in the history of the Philadelphia Eagles.
With that run, Jalen Hurts has turned in the most career games with a passing AND rushing TD. Donovan McNabb accomplished that feat 21 times. Jalen has done the same in Week 9 for the 22nd time.
Sadly, this will be forgotten about as we're certain the story coming out of this one well be questionable play calling by Nick Sirianni.
