As strange as this sounds, we might be the only people who pay attention to the Carolina Panthers living outside of Charlotte. We don't even do it because we find them interesting. It's just strange how many parallels can be drawn the Philadelphia Eagle to that franchise.

The most obvious line we can draw is the NFC Championship Game loss that the Birds suffered at the hands to something referred to as the 'Cardiac Cats'. That was the first title game played at Lincoln Financial Field. Nothing went right for Philly that day and carolina punched their ticket to the Super Bowl.

There are also players and coaches who connect us. Philly's former defensive coordinator, Sean McDermott, was fired and recreated himself in Charlotte. His time down south as the Panthers' DC led him to the head coaching chair with the Buffalo Bills.

Here we sit, at the dawn of the legal tampering period. Another familiar face was expected to trade the Midnight and Kelly Green for the black, process blue, and silver tones of the jersey worn by the franchise representing the Carolinas.

But, he didn't. Per NFL Network insiders, he lands in Foxborough.

Milton Williams was "close" to signing with the Panthers before they were usurped by the Patriots

The deal isn't official until the new league year begins, but news broke that Milton Williams lands with the New England Patriots. It sounds like he was close to signing with the Panthers. Then, we found out the deal wasn't done.

Per Diana Russini, the deal was "close". As you might expect, it caused quite the commotion on X.

Other teams were seemingly also involved including Jonathan Gannon's Arizona Cardinals, but the AFC East is his landing spot. His exit isn't much of a shock.
He was one of the highly-touted impending free agents of the current offseason, and Zack Baun's extension was evidence he was headed elsewhere.

New England will reportedly award him a four-year deal that pays $26 million per season. He cashes in, but Philly is still in great shape at the defensive tackle position.

Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis are still in town. Moro Ojomo has developed nicely. We'll see what Philly does in free agency and the coming NFL Draft.
