Eagles power rankings roundup: Experts mostly agree on Philly's standing
We've been thinking about this for a while, but we have no idea why we enjoy NFL Power Rankings so much. Maybe we just like seeing how the Philadelphia Eagles are viewed. We realize that won't fuel wins and losses, but every week of the regular season is the same.
We click to see where the Birds fall. We often argue they should be ranked higher.
Five weeks are gone. 13 games remain. Here's how the experts rank Philly as we move towards another game.
Two of our favorite platforms rank the Eagles similarly while another places them just outside the top half of their power ranking.

Our friends at The 33rd Team have always been nice to us. Every time we have an opportunity, we check out their platform to see what they are doing.
Marcus Mosher dropped his most recent NFL Power Ranking. He ranks Philly 17th, but if you're looking for the silver lining, he did raise them from 18. That's where he ranked them last week.
Here's the explanation:
"The Philadelphia Eagles needed a bye week after a blowout loss in Week 4, and their season might come down to their Week 6 matchup against the Cleveland Browns."
If the Eagles can’t win that game, things could get ugly really fast. Their schedule does get easier in the next month with games against the Browns, Giants, and Jaguars. This is a team that needs to start playing well and building confidence.

NFL.com's Eric Edholm drops the Eagles from eighth place following their Week 4 loss to the 13th spot on his list this time. The dozen teams ahead of them are as follows: 1. Minnesota Vikings, 2. Kansas City Chiefs, 3. Detroit Lions, 4. Buffalo Bills, 5. Houston Texans, 6. Baltimore Ravens, 7. Washington Commanders, 8. Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 9. Green Bay Packers, 10. Pittsburgh Steelers, 11. Seattle Seahawks, 12. San Francisco 49ers
Edholm isn't alone in his theory. Another trusted platform ranks Philly as pro football's 13th-best team.
ESPN.com
NFL Nation ranked the Birds as the sixth-best team after Week 4. They, like NFL.com, place them ahead of 19 other franchises as the 13th-best team coming out of Week 4.
Here's Tim McManus's take:
"The defensive group entered Week 4 with zero sacks and finally got on the board with takedowns by Brandon Graham and Josh Sweat against Tampa Bay. At age 36, Graham has been the best of the bunch, which is a good story but also problematic when projecting out a 17-game season.
The Eagles signed Bryce Huff to a three-year, $51 million contract in free agency to be an impact three-down player, but he hasn't been reliable against the run, in particular. Barring a significant uptick in play from Huff or 2023 first-round pick Nolan Smith Jr., this unit could be an issue all season."
We're all aware the Eagles' defense didn't enter the game versus Tampa with zero sacks. We're assuming he means the rotation at edge rusher? That would include Nolan Smith, Bryce Huff, Brandon Graham, Josh Sweat, and Jalyx Hunt.
We have no issues with the mistake being made. Tim McManus is a beast. He's allowed a miscue now and again.
