Ugh seriously?

Philadelphia Eagles fans have been frustrated by the offense's inconsistency, despite the 31-0 win over the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 15.

One game isn't enough for fans to give Eagles offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo a pass for what has been a miserable season for the offense. NBC Philadelphia's Reuben Frank wrote in his most recent article that he had to warn Eagles fans of one thing: Patullo isn't guaranteed to be fired or have his play-calling duties stripped after the season.

"These last few regular-season games and however many games the Eagles play in the postseason are a final test for Kevin Patullo because I don’t think it’s a slam dunk Nick Sirianni changes play callers. If the Eagles finish strong – and the last two games have been encouraging as far as Patullo’s play calling goes – what Sirianni is going to have to weigh is whether it’s worth starting from scratch with a seventh play caller in seven years for Jalen Hurts.

The body of work is not good for Patullo, but if Sirianni was thinking about making a switch in 2026 there’s a good chance he already would have done it. There’s something to be said for giving Hurts that continuity he craves. The one time he had a coordinator for a second year he was an MVP candidate and went to the Super Bowl. Patullo isn’t Steichen, but if he shows enough growth in the role late in the season and most importantly in the playoffs he could find his way back here."

Patullo might be sticking around for awhile

Look, most Eagles fans are not fans of Patullo after the kind of season it has been. The Eagles' offense is ranked 22nd in total offense (314.9), 22nd in passing (199.3), 20th in rushing (115.6), and 18th in scoring (22.9).

Compared to how the offense has consistently been in the top 10 since Nick Sirianni became the head coach of the Eagles in 2021, these are catastrophically bad numbers. Former offensive coordinator Brian Johnson was fired after one year in 2023, yet the offense still ranked in the top 10.

That said, there is a point made about helping Hurts by keeping a play caller and offensive coordinator in place. Seven different play callers are rough on a quarterback who is trying to develop in a system properly, and can't do that if he has to learn a new offense every year.

Eagles fans may not like to read it, but if they want Hurts to take bigger strides in his development, this has to happen. Patullo might have to stay for the sake of giving Hurts a break.
